Introducing… Darlings (NY)
Darlings started in the front room of a fifth-floor walkup on Bleecker Street in New York City in 2007.  They bang out beer-soaked anthems of reckless abandon that can define an adolescence and make a quarter-life crisis completely enjoyable.  Their first album, Yeah I Know, was released on Famous Class Records in 2009.
Click through the photo to get to their myspace… And check out what others have to say about them here, here, and here.
The set time for Darlings will be 7:20 pm in DC on Saturday, April 10th at All Souls.
Check back tomorrow for an mp3 of their song Eviction Party.

Introducing….. Seamonsters (NY)
Seamonsters, imagine The Strokes and The Wedding Present had a dream pop bastard child and hired Lou Reed to sing over their music. Strong angular riffs ornamented by heavy and melodic leads are the backdrop for songs about scarves in the summer time, make-believe friends, how to drink at bars, and other trivial things that can come to life with the right soundtrack.

Seamonsters’ DC set time is 2:40 pm on Saturday, April 10th at All Souls!

Introducing… Young and High

Young and High will  be joining us to play a one-off reunion show at our fundraiser this Tuesday.

Young and High is Andrew Buckette (guitar, vocals) and Haley Baptiste (drums, vocals). Both are longtime locals of the DC Metro area and are two of the friendliest faces that you can encounter in the late-night party circuit. Young and High were once known as The Husbands. This created an incredible amount of confusion, as there is a band from California with the same name. When they played their first show at the Wonderland Ballroom back in 2007, I remember overhearing some people say “Oh this isn’t the right group at all!” Needless to say they soon changed their name to the Ex-Husbands before settling on Dead Beat, and now Young and High. After a handful of shows in DC and Baltimore, the band split up. Haley got married and moved to England and Buckette began working at the Velvet Lounge. But the stars and planets have realigned in a special way and the dynamic duo will be returning for a special one off show.
